General Terms of Use

These General Terms of Use (the “Terms”) (together applicable University policies and procedures) set out the terms of use on which you may use the web-based sites of the University of Doha for Science and Technology (“University”, “we”, “our” or “us”), its electronic information systems, and/or services at https://www.udst.edu.qa ( hereafter referred to as “sites”). These Terms apply to all users of and visitors to the sites (“you”).

Please read these Terms carefully before you start to use our sites. By using our sites, you indicate that you accept these terms of use and that you agree to them. University reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. By continuing to access the sites after such modifications have been published, you signify your agreement to be bound by them.

  1. Accessing our sites

    University does not guarantee that our sites or the websites to which our sites are linked will always be available to you. University may restrict access to users to some parts of the site or to the entire site for technical, administrative or legal reasons. If the need arises, University reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the sites that we provide without notice.

    University will not be liable if for any reason our site or others are unavailable at any time or for any period.
     

  2. Password
    If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password or any other piece of information as part of University’s security procedures, you must regard and treat such information as confidential and you must not disclose it to any third party.

    An account assigned to an individual must not be used by others and an individual will be held responsible for any action or policy violations committed using the account. You are, therefore, responsible for the proper use of your account, including proper password protection and ensuring that while logged into the account only you have access to the account. 

    University has the right to disable any password or log in, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our opinion you have failed to comply with these Terms.

    You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to our sites.
     

  3. Intellectual Property
    University is the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our sites, the technical infrastructure relating to them, and in the material published on them.

    You may download, view and print material from our sites for your personal non-commercial use. No other use is permitted without our prior written consent. In particular, you may not use any part of the materials on our sites for commercial purposes without obtaining University's prior written consent.

    University's status (and/or that of any identified contributors) as the authors of material on our sites must always be acknowledged. No trade mark, copyright or other proprietary notices contained in or appearing on material from our site should be altered or removed in whole or in part.

    The permission to reproduce material does not extend to material identified as belonging to third parties, where you must obtain the permission of the relevant owners before reproducing such material.

    If you print off, copy or download any part of our site in breach of these terms of use, your right to use our sites will cease immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies of the materials you have made.
     

  4. Making contributions to our sites
    In posting, uploading or making a contribution to the sites:
    You grant to University a non-exclusive, world-wide, royalty-free license to copy, reproduce, broadcast, transmit, display and perform by all means all or part of your contribution on the sites for the entire period of copyright in your contribution and all renewals, extensions or revivals thereof.

    You warrant that:

    a. Your contribution is your own original work or you have a licence from the author/s or copyright owner/s of the contribution, granting University use of the contribution on the terms of the foregoing licence granted by you.
    b. Your contribution does not infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any person or organisation, which includes your having obtained sufficient rights (by written permission/licence or consents as appropriate) for University to exercise the foregoing licence granted by you, from:
          i. rights holders of third party copyright materials that you may have included in your contribution in whole or in part, e.g. others' literary works, photographs or other artistic works, dramatic works, musical works, sound recordings, films or broadcasts, and/or that others' materials are used in your contribution under statutory (legislative) exemption
          ii. all identifiable persons in any images or video/film and/or sound recordings that you may have included in your contribution (including parental/legal guardian consent for those under 18).
     

  5. Reliance on Information Posted
    University endeavours to ensure that the general information for and about University, on our sites is accurate at the time of publication, however, any of the information on our sites may be out of date or incomplete at any given time. If you believe that any information on our sites is inaccurate please let University know and we will investigate this. University disclaims all liability and responsibility for damages or losses arising from any reliance on such general information placed on our sites.

    University reserves the right to make appropriate changes at any time, without notice, to courses, programs, policies, procedures, website content, online resources, and other such matters as may be within its control. Nothing contained in our sites shall be construed to create any offer to contract or any contractual rights.

    Where University makes research papers, personal commentaries, statistical analyses, corporate data and other third party material available on our sites, we do not control and do not necessarily endorse their contents or findings in any way, and we are not responsible for the accuracy of such material, or its suitability for a particular purpose, or the like.

    The sites provide links to other websites; however, this should not be construed as constituting an endorsement of the linked third party’s websites or its content.  Reliance on information and content provided by the external link accessed is done so at your own risk.
     

  6. Cookies
    The sites use cookies. These cookies are used to store information including your preferences, and the pages on the sites that you accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our site content based on your browser type and/or other information.
     

  7. Programs
    University will use all reasonable efforts to deliver programs and other services and facilities in accordance with the descriptions set out in the prospectuses, student handbooks, welcome guides, and sites.

    University undertakes a continuous review of its programs, services, and facilities to ensure quality enhancement. University, therefore, reserves the right if it considers it to be necessary:
    1. to alter the timetable, location, number of classes, content or method of delivery of programs of study and/or examination processes, provided such alterations are reasonable;
    2. to make reasonable variations to the content and syllabus of programs of study (including in relation to placements);
    3. to make changes to its policies and procedures which University reasonably considers necessary (for example, in the light of changes in the law or the requirements of University’s regulators);
    4. to suspend or discontinue programs of study or to combine or merge them with others.
     

  8. Our Liability
    The material displayed on our sites is provided without any guarantees, conditions or warranties as to its accuracy. To the extent permitted by law, we hereby expressly exclude:
    1. any liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage incurred by any user in connection with our sites or in connection with the use, inability to use, or results of the use of our sites, any websites linked to them and any materials posted on them, including, without limitation, loss of income or revenue; loss of business; loss of profits or contracts; loss of anticipated savings; loss of data; loss of goodwill; wasted management or office time;
    2. any liability for any other loss or damage of any kind, however arising and whether caused by tort (including negligence), breach of contract or otherwise, even if foreseeable.
     

  9. Information about you and your visits to our sites
    Click here to view University’s Privacy Policy. University processes information about you in accordance with our privacy policy. By using our sites, you consent to such processing and you warrant that all data provided by you is accurate.
     

  10. Uploading Material to our sites
    Any material you post or upload to our sites will be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary, and University has the right to use, copy, distribute and disclose to third parties any such material for any purpose. University also has the right to disclose your identity to any third party who is claiming that any material posted or uploaded by you to our sites constitutes a violation of their intellectual property rights, or their right to privacy.

    University will not be responsible, or liable to you, or any third party, for the content or accuracy of any materials posted by your or any other user of our sites.
     

  11. Code of Conduct
    By using the sites you agree to be bound by the University Code of Conduct for Using of Online Resources
     

  12. Jurisdiction and Applicable Law
    The Qatari courts will have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim arising from, or related to, a visit to our sites.

    These terms of use and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of the State of Qatar.
