Program Description

The PGD INIC is designed for a range of health care professionals who work with critically ill preterm and term infants and in neonatal intensive care units including nurses, physicians, and respiratory therapists. The PGD INIC is founded on international standards and benchmarks from Australia, North America, and the United Kingdom. The program is designed as a set of four (4) micro-credentials and a total of seven (7) courses.  Students who complete all four (4) micro-credentials meet the requirements for a Post Graduate Diploma. An integration of theory with extensive application in laboratory, simulation, and practice experiences in areas such as high intensity care, advanced therapeutics and pharmacological interventions, risk management, quality assurance, and emergency care prepare graduates with enhanced competence to care for term and preterm babies and babies experiencing diverse and unstable and critical altered states of health.

Admission Requirements:

  1. Minimum of Bachelor of Nursing from an accredited higher education institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; OR
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a related health discipline from an accredited higher education institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  1. The required score on the University English Placement Test or a passing score from another approved internationally recognized English language test, as validated by the Admissions & Registration Directorate; OR
  2. A valid (within two years) IELTS Academic Test Report Form with an overall band of 6.0 with no individual band score (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) below 6.0; OR
  3. A valid (within two years) TOEFL iBT score of 72 and minimum scores of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, and 17 in writing.
  1. Academic transcripts related to the Bachelor degree and/or post graduate diploma presented upon application; AND
  2. Current license to practice in Qatar issued by the Ministry of Public Health, Department of Healthcare Professions; AND
  3. Employer’s confirmation of a minimum of two years’ experience in neonatal intensive care units.
