WELCOME

Welcome to the Applied Research and Graduate Studies (ARGS) at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), Qatar’s national leader in applied research, innovation, and graduate applied education. We operate at the intersection of academia, industry, government, and community, turning ideas into tangible solutions that address critical national and global challenges.

Our activities are guided by four applied research pillars — Sustainable Development, Digital Technology, STEM & TVET Education, and Health, Wellbeing & Society — ensuring alignment with national priorities and international targets for sustainable development and innovation. This focus enables us to deliver research that generates measurable economic returns, advances environmental stewardship, and creates lasting societal benefits. At ARGS, we champion an innovation-driven research model — a holistic ecosystem that nurtures ideas from early-stage research through proof-of-concept, scaling, and real-world deployment. This approach generates multi-level outcomes, from new scientific knowledge and skilled graduates to market-ready technologies, startups, and policy contributions.

We are committed to support our faculty and students by providing state-of-the-art research infrastructure, support in realizing funding opportunities, and sustained, high-quality mentorship. We are committed to driving innovation and entrepreneurship through industry collaboration, strategic intellectual property generation, and incubation pathways. The initiatives we undertake address critical challenges in sustainability, health, technology, and education — ensuring our work delivers measurable impact both in Qatar and globally. Together with our researchers, students, and partners, we are building a dynamic, impact-driven research ecosystem that transforms knowledge into innovation, and innovation into lasting societal and economic value.

The ARGS team combines extensive PRIOR experience in supervising MSc and PhD students worldwide with a proven record of delivering high-impact interdisciplinary projects across all continents. The team’s expertise includes strategic collaborations, securing competitive funding, and translating innovations from concept to real-world application. These collective capabilities strengthen UDST’s position as a national and global leader in applied research, innovation, and graduate education.
