The Forever Friends Club: Celebrating Inclusivity and Achievements

Our club spotlight for this month shines on the "Forever Friends" club. Rooted in a mission to cultivate a community that embraces inclusivity and raises awareness about disabilities, they have been busy organizing various events and activities, all geared towards fostering lasting connections, cherished memories, and promoting a more inclusive and empathetic campus environment.

Ranim Seyban, who took over the club two years ago, passionately expresses her motivation, "The idea of leading and improving this club attracted me as I am always passionate about creating a lively environment that is inclusive for everyone because I believe being all together without judgments is what creates a better world. Differences are not scary; it is what feeds us as a community. Can you imagine a place where everyone and everything is the exact same? That sounds more scary to me."

Reflecting on her personal growth and the club's mission, Ranim adds, "Before, I was thinking I am an open-minded person until I started searching deeper for our events... Being part of Forever Friends made me learn many things that helped in creating a better version of me, as well as creating a positive space for all. Remember, your differences are your power, and they have never been a weakness unless you think it that way!"

Ahmed Hassan, another club leader, shares his perspective as a member and leader, saying, "As a member of the Forever Friends Club, I've cherished the enjoyable activities and events we've participated in. Now, in my role as a leader, planning events that bring happiness to others is a truly rewarding experience. It also provides me with a valuable opportunity to enhance my understanding of inclusion principles."

On September 24th, the club played a pivotal role in raising awareness for International Day of Sign Languages through a dynamic social media campaign. Not only did they share a compelling message, but they also provided tutorials on signing common words and phrases, furthering their mission of enhancing understanding.

In addition, the club arranged an informative session with the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs, a Qatar-based organization established in 1999, dedicated to the welfare of individuals with disabilities. Their collaborations also extended to a meeting with Best Buddies Qatar, an organization committed to creating integrated employment opportunities and fostering leadership development for people with disabilities.

Beyond these impactful collaborations, the Forever Friends Club actively participated in De-Stress Fest, organizing engaging activities such as stress-ball crafting workshops and activities aimed at promoting relaxation and relief.

The Forever Friends club has consistently exemplified the values of community, inclusivity, and understanding, making a positive impact on our campus. We commend their remarkable accomplishments and their dedication to creating a more inclusive and welcoming university environment.

As Ranim and Ahmed, along with other passionate leaders, unite in their mission, the "Forever Friends" club serves as an inspiring model for promoting inclusivity and making a difference in the community. Their commitment to fostering empathy, understanding, and acceptance sets a standard that others can aspire to achieve.
