Women in STEM take center stage at DWF-UDST event

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) hosted the Doha Women Forum’s event “Shaping Tomorrow: STEMpowered Women” to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The event brought together influential female leaders from academia, industry, and entrepreneurship to inspire and mentor future generations of women in STEM. 


The forum featured a keynote by HE Javier Carbajosa Sanchez, Ambassador of Spain to Qatar, and opening remarks by Dr. Rosie Bateson, Dean of the College of General Education at UDST, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in STEM. 
A panel of prominent women, including Dr. Dhabia Al Mohannadi (HBKU), Narjiss Sallah (PHCC), Fatima Sultan Al-Kuwari (Ooredoo Group), and Ashley Brantley (Girls in Aviation), discussed challenges, mentorship, and women’s role in innovation. 


The event also featured STEM Excellence Awards in categories such as Research and Innovation, Community Impact, Sustainability, and Technology & Innovation, along with a STEM Exhibition involving local schools — The Next Generation School won the Excellence in STEM Showcase Award. 


Speakers emphasized the importance of sustainable innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the inclusion of women in AI and technology development. 


The forum, supported by UDST as a strategic partner, reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to advancing women’s participation in STEM fields as part of its broader investment in education, innovation, and sustainable development.

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) was proudly represented at the 8th edition of the Doha Women Forum. Dr. Rosie Bateson, Dean of the College of General Education, joined a distinguished panel titled “Equal Access, Unequal Experience: The Reality for Women in Education”. The session explored the challenges and disparities women face in accessing quality education, addressing both global issues and local contexts. Dr. Bateson contributed insights from UDST’s academic environment, emphasizing the university’s role in developing inclusive and equitable learning opportunities. The forum brought together high-profile speakers, including diplomats, education specialists, and advocates, to discuss pathways to empower women through education. Dr. Bateson’s participation reinforced UDST’s commitment to advancing gender equality and equipping students with the tools to thrive in an evolving global landscape. 

UDST Female Athletes Shine in QCSF University Sports Tournaments 2024–2025

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) female athletes delivered an outstanding performance across multiple Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) tournaments during the 2024–2025 season, showcasing excellence, teamwork, and determination. UDST’s women’s basketball team achieved a remarkable 1st place victory at the QCSF Female Basketball Tournament (April 21, 2025), demonstrating exceptional skill and unity on the court. In football, the UDST women’s team secured an impressive 2nd place finish at the QCSF Women’s University Football Tournament (February 26, 2025), highlighting their strong athletic capability and sportsmanship. Additionally, the university’s female futsal team claimed 1st place at the QCSF Futsal Tournament (March 14, 2025), further solidifying UDST’s reputation as a leader in women’s university sports in Qatar.


These achievements reflect UDST’s ongoing commitment to promoting women’s participation in sports, empowering student-athletes, and fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and leadership both on and off the field.

UDST Female Athletes Triumph at the GCC Sports Tournament

The female athletes of the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) showcased exceptional talent at the inaugural Female GCC Tournament, held at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With eleven universities participating, UDST athletes competed in Badminton, Futsal, Volleyball, and Tennis. The UDST Female Wolves made a significant impact, becoming the only university to secure medals in all four sports. Mubaraka Al Naimi earned a gold medal in Tennis, while the team's displayed resilience and teamwork, winning silver in Volleyball and Futsal, and bronze in Badminton. These accomplishments highlight the hard work and dedication of UDST’s athletes, coaches, and support staff

UDST partners with Bentley Motors for the third edition of its Extraordinary Women initiative for 2024

Bentley Motors has launched the third edition of its Extraordinary Women mentorship program, aimed at developing the next generation of female leaders. In collaboration with universities in the UK and Qatar, including the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), the program focuses on female students in engineering, design, technology, and business. It is part of Bentley’s broader commitment to diversity and inclusion under its Beyond100 strategy. Eight students from the UK and Qatar will receive one-on-one mentorship from inspirational women in various fields. The program will culminate in a weeklong visit to Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England, this June. Congratulations to UDST students Johara Gawas, Dhabya Al-Harami, Noora Al-Hajri, and Shaikha Al-Sumaiti for embarking on this exceptional journey.
