University of Doha for Science and Technology Holds Graduation Ceremony for Technician Programs’ Trainees, Marking their Preparedness for Success in Kahramaa and ASHGHAL and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs

The Continuing and Professional Education Directorate (CPE) at University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) held a graduation ceremony for the trainees of its Technician Programs. The event marked their preparedness for successful employment in Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), as well as the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Present at the ceremony were H.E. Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Naimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education; H.E. Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi. President of the Public Works Authority; Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of University of Doha for Science and Technology; Dr. Abdullah Mohsin Al-Wahedi, Director of Shared Services at KAHRAMAA.

The ceremony celebrated 30 accomplished graduates/participants who successfully completed the rigorous Emergency and IT Technician Training programs. Their journey commenced in July 2023 and culminated after an intensive six-month period of training.

The programs provided a range of value-added innovative and professional training tailored to meet the evolving needs of the market for technical and vocational skills. The holistic curricula were meticulously designed in close collaboration with the University’s College of Engineering and Technology and the College of Computing and Information Technology, as well as the invaluable input from their partners within the industry. The content was also complemented with communications and professional skills development in addition to practical workshops and on-the-job training, providing a comprehensive educational experience.

During the ceremony, Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, presented Certificates of Achievement to the graduating technicians. He expressed his pleasure to be part of this occasion, remarking, " We live in an era that requires us to engage in continuous education to keep pace with the rapid advancements in technology and engineering. The role of vocational training offered by University of Doha for Science and Technology stands out in enhancing the capability of the workforce and empowering it with skills that are not only relevant for the present but also fundamental for the future, and for driving economic and social development in the country. This is in line with the third national development strategy, which focuses on economic growth through increasing the productivity of the workforce."

Mr. Hamad Alkuwari, Director of Continuing and Professional Education at UDST also commented on the importance of the ceremony, stating, “UDST plays an essential role in the development of Qatar’s workforce. These programs will undoubtedly contribute to enhancing labor localization rates and mark just the beginning of CPE's initiatives in this endeavor.”

The ceremony represented the commencement of the technicians’ prosperous and influential careers within pivotal Qatari sectors. More importantly, it underscored UDST's dedication to equipping the national workforce with skills and knowledge to deliver excellence. Additionally, emphasized the institution's staunch belief in nurturing the next generation of technical experts, fostering their capacity to contribute to the nation's industrial progress and economic vitality.
