Welcome message from the Department Head

The Department of Communication and Humanities plays a central role in the College of General Education by giving students across all programs within UDST a practical academic foundation in skills including communication, critical thinking, ethical judgment, and research literacy. Learning is built around authentic tasks that reflect the expectations of advanced study and the workplace. Projects, inquiry-based activities, and collaborative work connect ideas to applied settings.

Within the General Education requirements, the department’s courses engage students with the social, cultural, and ethical questions that shape contemporary life, alongside themes of entrepreneurship, sustainability, and the affordances and challenges of AI. Together, these courses create a coherent general education experience that complements disciplinary knowledge while preparing graduates for lifelong learning, professional adaptability, and responsible participation in the regional and global economy.
