The GUC Tournament will bring together GCC university teams competing across four sports over three days.

The 3rd GUC Tournament marks an exciting milestone as we welcome female team sport to the competition for the first time. Female Volleyball joins this year’s tournament, making GUC 2026 more inclusive and creating a new opportunity for women to compete, connect and represent their teams on the court.

TOURNAMENT RULES
Game-specific rules and regulations for all tournament sports.
FUTSAL
Match Duration
Two (2) halves of ten (10) minutes running clock.
Half-Time Break
Five (5) minutes between each half.
Time-Out
One (1) time-out per team per game.
Team Size
12 players per team.
Team Fouls
Due to the reduced duration of matches, each foul committed by a team will be punished with a penalty starting from the 4th team foul each half.
Knockout Draw
If the match is tied, three (3) penalties will be taken by each team. If still tied, one (1) penalty per team will be taken until there is a winner.
Governing Rules
All other FIFA rules apply.
BASKETBALL
Warm-Up
10 minutes.
Match Duration
Two (2) halves of twelve (12) minutes running time, except for the last minute of the second half. The clock should be stopped during time-outs, free throws and injuries.
Half-Time Interval
Five (5) minutes between halves.
Overtime
Two (2) minutes running time.
Time-Outs
One (1) time-out of 30 seconds per half, including overtime. Time-outs are not cumulative. If not used during the first half, the time-out will be lost.
Fouls
A maximum of five (5) personal fouls are allowed per player throughout the entire game. A total of five (5) team fouls are allowed per half before resulting in the opposing team taking free throws, regardless of the type of foul committed.

Warm-Up
10 minutes.
Match Format
Best of 3 sets to 21 points, with a deciding point at 20–20. If a third set is required, it will be played to 15 points with a deciding point at 14–14.
Winning a Set
The first team to reach 21 points (15 points in the third set), by a margin of one point, wins the set.
Winning the Match
The first team to win two sets wins the match. A third and deciding set will be played to 15 points with a deciding point.
Time-Outs & Substitutions
Each team has a maximum of one (1) time-out of 30 seconds per match and six (6) substitutions in each set.
Technical Time-Outs
There are no technical time-outs.
Interval Between Sets
The interval between sets is two (2) minutes. Teams must switch sides and complete the required score sheet information. The side-switching exception applies to the break between the second and third sets.
Deciding Point
At 20–20 (or 14–14 in the third set), the team that scores the 21st point (or 15th point) wins the set and, where applicable, the match.
