University of Doha for Science and Technology celebrates the second day of its Class of 2026 graduation ceremony

Celebrating a class of innovators and entrepreneurs

Under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) celebrated the second day of the Class of 2026 graduation ceremony at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Chair of the Board of Trustees of UDST, and the board members; His Excellency, Dr. Salem Al-Naemi President of UDST, the University’s staff and faculty, and families of honor graduates. The ceremony also featured a keynote address by Hamad Mubarak Alhajri, Founder and CEO of Snoonu.

The number of graduates this year exceeded 1,321 students from various programs and disciplines, including more than 250 honor graduates, reflecting the University’s continued commitment to academic excellence and applied learning.

The graduating class includes 484 graduates from the College of Business, 285 graduates from the College of Computing and Information Technology, 341 graduates from the College of Engineering and Technology, and 211 graduates from the College of Health Sciences, reflecting the diversity of the university’s academic programs and the breadth of its fields of specialization.

This year also reflected the success of a number of student-led projects and innovations developed throughout the academic journey, demonstrating the University’s emphasis on experiential learning, entrepreneurship, and applied research. Among these initiatives was “Be My Sense,” an AI-powered platform designed to support individuals with hearing impairments through real-time translation and smart wearable technologies. Other projects included “OPAS,” an intelligent system developed to support sports performance analysis and offside detection using artificial intelligence, a sustainable life-cycle assessment project focused on blue ammonia supply chains and clean energy solutions, research exploring women’s representation in Qatar’s technology sector, and innovative engineering solutions such as a cooling system designed for firefighters’ protective clothing. These initiatives reflect the creativity, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills fostered among UDST students across a wide range of disciplines.

This graduating class reflects the dynamic and future-oriented nature of the University’s academic ecosystem, spanning key sectors such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, engineering, health sciences, business innovation, and digital technologies. Through advanced laboratories, simulation environments, industry partnerships, and applied research opportunities, students acquired the practical competencies and leadership capabilities required to contribute effectively to the workforce.

In his speech, Dr. Rachid Benlamri, Vice President, Academic at the University of Doha for Science and Technology, said:

“It is my pleasure and honor to celebrate today the result of years of dedication, hard work, and ambition, and to share with our graduates the joy of reaching an important academic milestone that marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities and aspirations. Through a comprehensive educational experience that combined academic knowledge with practical application, our graduates have been prepared to move forward with confidence and competence toward excellence in various fields, equipped with the skills and expertise that enable them to contribute effectively to society and support Qatar’s continued progress and development.”

He further highlighted the university’s strategic direction, stating:

“As part of the University of Doha for Science and Technology’s commitment to keeping pace with future demands and the evolving needs of the labor market, the University continues to advance its academic ecosystem through the introduction of specialized programs and modern disciplines that support innovation and contribute to preparing highly qualified national talent. In this context, the University recently announced the launch of four new academic programs, including the Executive Master of Health Administration, the Master of Science in Midwifery, and the Bachelor’s and Diploma programs in Animal Health and Veterinary Science, in line with labor market needs and national development priorities.”

The guest speaker, Hamad Mubarak Alhajri, Founder and CEO of Snoonu, addressed the graduates and said: "Congratulations on the years of hard work. Congratulations on the moment you dreamed of for so long. Congratulations, because you proved to yourselves, before anyone else, that you are capable."

The Class of 2026 Salutatorian, Walaa Hassan, expressed pride in representing fellow graduates during the ceremony and said:

“Today, we stand in a moment we have long dreamed of. A moment of pride and accomplishment that crowns years of dedication, perseverance, and ambition. The University of Doha for Science and Technology provided us with a comprehensive educational experience that combined knowledge with practical application, helping us develop our skills and empowering us to create meaningful impact within our communities. Each one of us carries a unique story of success, yet what unites us all is the belief that ambition and hard work can shape a brighter future. As graduates, we leave today carrying not only academic knowledge, but also the confidence, resilience, and sense of responsibility that will guide us as we contribute to our communities and pursue our aspirations with determination and purpose.”

The Class of 2026 marks the graduation of the first cohorts from several newly launched academic programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Digital Communication and Media Production, developed in collaboration with the Qatar Media Corporation, in addition to the Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering, the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Cybersecurity, and the Master of Science in Process Safety. These programs reflect UDST’s commitment to advancing future-focused disciplines and supporting national priorities through innovative applied education.

This occasion marks an important milestone in the journey of UDST graduates, representing years of dedication, professional development, and hands-on training. It further reinforces the University’s mission to deliver applied education that bridges academic knowledge with real-world practice while responding to the changing needs of industry and society.

Throughout their academic journey, students benefited from an applied learning model centered on innovation and problem-solving, which has contributed to the development of essential skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, adaptability, and leadership capabilities that are vital in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

As the graduates of the Class of 2026 embark on the next chapter of their journey, the University celebrates their accomplishments and looks forward to their continued contributions across various sectors locally and globally.
