Meet Dr. Salem Al-Naemi
Dr. Salem Al-Naemi is the First President of UDST, after it was officially established by an Emiri Decision No13 of 2022 in February of the same year.
President Al-Naemi is proud to lead UDST with a firm commitment to excellence and accountability. He fosters a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion, expanding opportunities for high academic achievement and student success. Dr. Al-Naemi, in close collaboration with UDST’s community, as well as business and industry, is working assiduously to grow existing partnerships and advance the University’s mission to graduate global leaders and innovators.
President Bio
He joined UDST in November 2018, during its transition phase from College to University, as Vice President, Finance & Administration, and was appointed President in January 2021.
Dr. Al-Naemi has more than 30 years of work experience in both government and private sectors. He is a successful executive with considerable leadership experience in education, government and business organizations such as Qatar University, Statistics Department/Planning Council, Supreme Education Council and Milaha to name a few. Also, he has an extensive international experience working as a Managing Director of companies in France, Germany and India.
He holds an MBA and PhD in Computer Science. He also has a master in mathematical and a Bachelor in double major Mathematics and Computer Science. He began his career as a University Professor. His expertise lies in organizational strategies, managerial leadership, communication and operational efficiency to accomplish goals and achieve success for an organization.
He has worked with a diverse workforce and in many multi-national organizations in key positions such as Executive Vice President of Support Services, CFO, and CIO, handling finances, information technology, human capital and administration functions.
