End of Year Message

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

As we prepare to close the 2022-2023 Academic Year, I want to express my gratitude for all your dedication and perseverance. You have done remarkable work this year by learning, teaching, researching, innovating, supporting our campus operations, and bringing us closer to achieving our vision.

This year was exceptional for Qatar in general and UDST in particular. We recently celebrated a golden decade of wise leadership under H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar.

Our Nation has also hosted a phenomenal World Cup tournament and has proved to the world that with ambition, dedication and perseverance, anything is possible. UDST played an important role during that period by supporting close to 1400 UDST students, faculty, and staff members who stepped up to volunteer for the historic sporting event. The University was also the host training site for the National Swiss Team and won the second prize in Zeeenah competition.

Your strengths gave us faith in what we are building for this academic institution and supported us in spearheading the first international conference of its kind in the State of Qatar, the “Innovation and Technological Advances for Sustainability”. Moreover, we have been welcomed into CFA Institute University Affiliation Program and approved for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Exemption Accreditation. The University has also launched eight new programs that were created to address industrial needs and economic growth.

I am also delighted that UDST is not only supporting the intellectual growth of its students but also their emotional and physical development. Our varsity athletes have made remarkable achievements by winning the Qatar Universities Basketball League and receiving six medals in the 9th GCC Sports Tournament for Universities and Higher Education Institutes.

I want to seize this moment as well to wish our Class of 2023 graduates a successful career and encourage them to add value and contribute to the betterment of society. At the end of this academic year, we also bid farewell with a heavy heart to many UDST community members who served the University with great dedication and were an inspiration to all of us. We wish them well in their endeavors and commend their exceptional efforts and hard work throughout their years of service at our institution.

Finally, I recommend you take time to enjoy some rest and recuperation over the summer. Have a wonderful break and I look forward to seeing you in 2023-2024 for another successful academic year where the Wolves community members will collaborate, innovate, excel, and reach new heights!

Dr. Salem Al-Naemi
