The Sport and Wellness Department at University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), with partners Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) and Qatar Collegiate Sport Federation (QCSF) welcomes you to the GCC Universities Sport and Wellness Symposium on January 14th to 16th, 2024. This exclusive event will coincide with the Qatar Green Desert/Better Tomorrow Expo 2023 and alongside the Asian Cup Football Championships, providing the perfect backdrop for discussions on collaboration and competition within the GCC countries.

Event Overview:

In response to the evolving interest in the role of post-secondary institutions in the sport development system across the GCC region, this symposium aims to bring together sport and wellness leaders, national and international sport federation and government officials, and students to meet for the first time as a collective. The goal is to foster discussions on opportunities for collaboration and growth within the region. We are excited to confirm that we have a number of prominent regional government, university and sport and wellness leaders committed including both FISU’s President, Mr. Leonz Eder and CEO Mr. Eric Saintrond, as well as Dr Ibrahim AlNaemi, President of QCSF and Undersecretary to the Minister of Education and Higher Education in Qatar. Also anticipated is the participation of an Executive Member of the wildly successful FIFA 2022 World Cup.

Symposium Goals and Objectives:

  • Enrich awareness and understanding of GCC University leaders in key areas related to Post-Secondary Sport & Wellness initiatives.
  • Maximize opportunities for collaboration in student sport opportunities.
  • Expose participants to the value and opportunities associated with the FISU “Healthy Campus” program.
  • Elevate the role of Sport and Student Services officials in promoting student well-being through Sport & Wellness.
  • Provide a platform for exchange and community building among professionals in the field.

Join us at the GCC Universities Sport and Wellness Symposium and become a part of bridging gaps, fostering growth, and advancing a vision for a healthier future for all.
