Honoring Top Performing Students at the Distinguished Academic Awards Ceremony

University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) recently celebrated the remarkable achievements of its top students at the prestigious Annual Academic Awards Ceremony.

This year, the awards recognized a total of 50 outstanding undergraduates and graduates across various academic disciplines. The event was attended by Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, and featured Hind Al Kuwari, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Oryx, and Growth Advisor at Alumni Owned Business, Adeer, as a guest speaker.

Students were honored in eight categories: Academic Excellence Award, Academic Merit Award, Academic Distinction Award, Foundation Program Award, Industrial Trades Dean Award, Achievement Award, Applied Research Award, and Innovation Award.

The University proudly presented the Academic Excellence Awards to students with the highest weighted averages in their respective programs. For the Master’s Degree, the Academic Excellence Award went to Tasneem Omer Madebo, a student in the College of Health Sciences, Master of Science in Diabetes Care and Patient Education. The Bachelor’s Degree award was presented to Tasnim Hassan Soliman from the College of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Technology. The Advanced Diploma honor was awarded to Abdulla Obaid Al-Shamari of the College of Engineering and Technology, Advanced Diploma in Chemical and Processing Engineering Technology. And the Two-Year Diploma Academic Excellence Award was presented to Thabshira Sahanath Murichandiyil from the College of Health Sciences, Diploma in Pharmacy Technology.

Reflecting on the occasion, Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, said: “Recognizing our students’ exceptional achievements reminds us of the boundless potential that education can unlock. Each award presented today represents a story of determination, curiosity, and purpose, qualities that define the UDST community. Our role as educators is to cultivate these strengths and guide our students toward becoming innovators and changemakers who will contribute to Qatar’s growth and global progress. Today’s celebration is a reflection of our shared belief in excellence as a way of life.”

The Innovation Award was presented to Ayomide Alabi from the College of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration in Applied Accounting, for his role in leading the team project ZAUN App, an AI-powered productivity platform that combines to-do lists and calendars into a dynamic, behavior-based scheduling system. The app’s achievements, including third place in the Al Fikra Entrepreneurship competition, winning the DMZ-UHUB Pitch, and acceptance into the QSTP INCUB8 Program, highlight Ayomide’s leadership and innovation in technology. The project is also entered in the INJAZ Qatar Universities competition and the Qatar Web Summit 2026.

The other Innovation Award went to Amelda Zalva Zahira from the College of Computing and Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, for her participation in the Hackathon event ‘Reboot the Earth’ with her team, HarvestHub which secured second place, showcased her creativity and leadership in technological innovation.

The Applied Research Award went to Ralph Benedict Capili of the College of Engineering and Technology, Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering - Processing Engineering, recognized for his outstanding research and his scholarly contributions include two peer-reviewed journal publications and a presentation at the London International Youth Science Forum. Also, his achievements in design and innovation are further highlighted by the UNESCO 2023 Future Designer IIDA Bronze Medal, recognition at the Qatar Youth Science Forum, and a first runner-up award at UDST Skills Day.

All recipients of the Academic Excellence and Academic Merit Awards received monetary awards, as well as University certificates, with distinctions noted on their official transcripts. UDST’s Annual Awards Ceremony reinforces the University’s dedication to cultivating an environment of academic excellence and innovation, making it a key annual event that inspires and honors exceptional contributions to society.
