Research Themes
Theme 1: Population Health Research
Detecting Disease Earlier. Improving Lives Longer.
Qatar faces a significant burden of non-communicable diseases including cancer and chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Our team studies smarter ways to detect these conditions earlier, educate patients more effectively, and improve long-term health outcomes in Qatar's multicultural population.
Research Focus Areas:
- New screening, diagnostic and treatment models to improve early cancer detection and survival rates, covering breast, lung, and other high-prevalence cancers.
- Health education and lifestyle change interventions to improve health literacy and clinical outcomes among patients with chronic non-comm unicable diseases.
Relevant Industry Sectors:
Pharmaceuticals | Medical Diagnostics | Oncology | Wellness and Digital Health | Patient Education Technology.

Theme 2: Health Systems and Service Research
Smarter Health Systems. Better Patient Journeys.
Qatar's health system is growing fast, and so is the challenge of connecting care across providers without losing quality or efficiency. We study how digital platforms, integrated care teams, and structured programs can reduce duplication, improve coordination, and deliver measurably better outcomes for patients with complex conditions.
Research Focus Areas:
- Effectiveness of integrated digital health platforms linking primary and tertiary care data in improving coordination and reducing service duplication for chronic condition patients.
- Multidisciplinary care management programs for controlling metabolic diseases (hypertension, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes, obesity, dyslipidemia, COPD) and managing chronic and post-transplant infections.
Relevant Industry Sectors:
Health Information Technology | Hospital Management Solutions | Health Insurance | Integrated Care Providers | Digital Health Platforms

Theme 3: Translational and Implementation Research
From Evidence to Action. From Research to Results.
The hardest part of healthcare innovation is not discovering what works, it is making it work consistently in the real world. Our translational research team studies exactly that, how to move findings into practice across Qatar's unique behavioral, cultural, and systemic context. This is where new diagnostics, screening tools, and precision medicine products become viable at scale.
Research Focus Areas:
- Implementation of cancer screening uptake programs shaped by behavioral science, cultural understanding, and system-level insights.
- Precision diagnostics for breast and colorectal cancer that support longer and more targeted treatment pathways.
Relevant Industry Sectors:
Precision Medicine | Genomics and Diagnostics | Medical Devices | Cancer Care | Behavioral Health Technology.
