Program Description

The two-year Post-Diploma Bachelor of Science in Nursing (PDip. B.Sc. N) is designed for Registered Nurses who have graduated with an associate diploma in nursing and wish to advance their academic credentials to a Bachelors in Science in Nursing. Graduates gain advanced clinical competence and research capacity, as well as an understanding of population health, organizational and systems leadership, health policy, finance and regulatory environments, and interprofessional collaborations. Students learn to shape the future of nursing and healthcare through options to engage in research or quality assurance projects or entrepreneurial or technological innovation initiatives. Students may also choose to refine their competence in a focused area of clinical practice that aligns with their experience and interests. Student learning is supported in a sophisticated Nursing and Midwifery Experiential Center, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, high fidelity simulators, and task trainers. Students also benefit from a modern virtual simulation lab and a Standardized Patient Program. In addition, graduates are prepared for the possibility of future education in a Master of Science in Nursing.

Admission Requirements:

1. Two-year RN Associate Degree/Diploma or equivalent approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education from an accredited higher education institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; AND A. Proof of current licensure in Qatar from the Department of Healthcare Professions as a General Registered Nurse in good standing. OR B. Two-year RN Associate Degree/Diploma or equivalent approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education from an accredited higher education institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; AND

2. Proof of current licensure in Qatar from the Department of Healthcare Professions as an Assistant Nurse in good standing. Note that applicants not licensed and employed as a RN may be required to complete up to five (5) additional courses in health assessment and nursing therapeutics to update knowledge and practice skills; OR

3. Two-year RN Associate Degree/Diploma or equivalent, obtained within past five (5) years, and approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education from an accredited higher education institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; AND

4. Completion of up to five (5) additional courses in health assessment and nursing therapeutics to update knowledge and practice skills.
1. The required score on the University English Placement Test or a passing score from another approved internationally recognized English language test, as validated by the Admissions & Registration Directorate; OR

2. A valid (within two years) IELTS Academic Test Report Form with an overall band of 5.0 with no individual band score (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) below 5.0; OR

3. Successful completion of Foundation Year in Health Sciences.
1. A minimum of 60% on the University Math Placement Test; OR

2. A valid SAT Report Form with minimum score of 480; OR

3. Successful completion of Foundation Year in Health Sciences.
1. Documented proof of completed immunizations and diagnostic tests as identified in the Student Immunization Form.

2. Documented proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (Level 3) at the time of enrolment or within one month of commencement of the program.

3. Students are responsible to maintain current immunizations and BLS certification throughout the duration of the program. These requirements may change during the program as determined with the Qatar Minister of Public Health and clinical partners hosting student practicums.

Graduates of the Post Diploma Bachelor of Science in Nursing (PDip. B.Sc. N) program have the option to further their education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Nursing or specializing in various areas within the field of nursing.
