College of Engineering and Technology FAQ's

Most programs require a high college diploma with passing grades in at least 5 courses. One must be a Grade 12 English course, one Academic or Advanced Mathematics course, and two Science courses. A fifth course can be from a variety of language, arts, or other electives. A minimum average of 60% over all five courses is required to be admitted. All these credits must be obtained from a college that is approved by the State of Qatar.

There are three semesters available at UDST: the first semester begins in September (Fall); the second begins in January (Winter); and the third begins in May (Spring).

All students in their final year must pass a specialized course, which aims to integrate the students' academic studies with practical work experience. Students find work placements within Qatar with the help of a Work Term Coordinator from the University.

Department Heads work as professors who also perform administrative duties. They set the department curriculum, interview potential new professors, manage faculty schedules, settle faculty and student disputes, and sometimes oversee research. In this role, the department chair liaisons between a department and the administration, reporting to the dean.
