United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, is a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. As Qatar’s premier national applied university, the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) embraces the importance of aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to support both local and global priorities.
In line with UDST’s Strategic Plan, the University uses the SDGs as a guiding framework to articulate and enhance its impact across education, research, and community engagement. Drawing inspiration from the Brundtland Commission’s (1987) definition of sustainability, UDST is committed to balancing economic development, social inclusion, and environmental stewardship—ensuring present needs are met without compromising the needs of future generations.
While still in the early stages of formal SDG impact reporting, UDST is actively embedding sustainability principles across its academic programs, research initiatives, and institutional operations. The 17 SDGs offer a flexible and interconnected roadmap for achieving inclusive progress, and UDST’s evolving Sustainability Strategy outlines the actions it will take to contribute meaningfully to a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future for Qatar and beyond.
